Article: Chatfield Brass Band Invites New Members
The Chatfield Brass Band is busy preparing for a brand new season of rehearsals and concerts. New members are welcome at any time. Carmen Narveson, director, states, “While we have a great, talented group of musicians in our band, we invite other instrumentalists who love playing their instruments to join in the fun.”   Prospective members are encouraged to visit and join at any time.  Instrumentalists that haven’t played since high school or college will find understanding, fellow musicians who went through the same “lip-building” process when they joined the band. The band is a traditional concert band with woodwinds, brass and percussion. The director of the band is Carmen Narveson, retired elementary music teacher at Chatfield.
Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Chatfield Elementary School band room. When you join the Chatfield Brass Band, you will find a group of musicians of all ages, from all walks of life, who come to band because they love music, love to play their instruments, and enjoy playing in a quality group that is fun and active. It is a stress-free environment! The band members hail from fifteen different communities. The yearly schedule for the band includes a Holiday Concert in December, a series of “Concerts in the Park” in the summer, and parades and concerts in surrounding communities.Ready to go on the bandwagon for the Rochesterfest parade.
The Chatfield Brass Band has a 50 year history and is well- known throughout the state. The band plays an active part in the Chatfield community and enjoys the support of the city and community members. As a non-profit corporation, they also own the Chatfield Music Lending Library and support its efforts. Contact Carmen Narveson at 867-3315 or carmennarveson@gmail.com for more information.
