The library is a member of the Southeast Minnesota Library System and lends music to bands and musicians from all over the world. Visitors and browsers are welcome during operating hours: Monday-Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Central Time. Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Central Time. The loan period is 90 days. Items may be renewed for one additional loan period unless they have been requested by another customer. Borrowers are charged a small handling fee to cover expenses (see below). There is an overdue fine of one cent per day per each piece of music (so if someone had a complete set with 20 parts that would be 20 cents a day).
The Chatfield Music Lending Library online catalog is now networked with 84 other libraries as part of the SELCO Integrated Library System. The upgrade allows patrons to browse, make requests, and pay online. Internet Explorer is the recommended browser for this online catalog. The library does still accept requests by phone or email too. The library charges a small service fee since it is a private library. Patrons are able to self register. They will receive their library cards when their music order is mailed to them.
